The Oxygen Express trains being conducted by the Indian Railways have delivered almost 150 tonnes of their life threatening gas in the previous twenty four hours, also the Ministry of Railways said on Saturday.

At the aftermath of acute lack of oxygen to Covid-19 patients in lots of regions of the nation, the Indian Railways has established the Oxygen Express initiative to transfer Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) over the world.

The Ministry of Railways said in an announcement,”Oxygen Express trains using LMO tankers have came Nashik and Lucknow. Few containers have been unloaded at Nagpur and also Varanasi en route to furnish LMO in these places. In addition, a third party Oxygen Express has launched its travel from Lucknow today ”

In accordance with this ministry, countries including Andhra Pradesh and Delhi have been in consultation with all the Railways to conduct more such trains.

Under this initiative, both vacant tankers are now being filled with LMO in Visakhapatnam, Jamshedpur, Rourkela and Bokaro.

“To satisfy certain requirements of health oxygen at Uttar Pradesh, a green corridor was made for that movement of their railway between Lucknow and Varanasi. The exact distance of 270 kilometers has been covered in 3 hours and 20 minutes using a normal rate of 62.35 kmph,” the ministry said.

It noticed that an overall total of 10 containers using almost 150 tonnes of oxygen have now been hauled thus far.

“Indian Railways hauled vital commodities and maintained that the distribution chain undamaged even throughout the lock down this past year and it continues to serve the state in times of crises,” the ministry said.
