Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati has already signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) to collaborate on studies to better serve the requirements of their populous countries.

NFR is just one of those 17 railroad areas of the Indian market and is in charge of development and operation of railroad network all over north eastern nations and a few areas of Bihar and West Bengal.

The MoU was signed by Prof. Vimal Katiyar,” Dean, Research & Development, IIT Guwahati, along with Yogesh Verma, Chief Planning & Design Engineer, NFR, at the Wild presence of Prof. T. G. Sitharam, Director, IIT Guwahati.

Sitharam, Director, IIT Guwahati, ””Under this cooperation, the two associations will collectively perform various studies from the areas not confined by Geo technical help, Structure, Bridges, it, Overhead equipment, Signalling & safety appraisal, Artificial Intelligence (AI) established predictive care systems, Web of Stuff (IoT) design features, improving maintenance and processes of rolling stock, lawns and train surgeries and Green Technologies to be able to cater the requirements of north east people and it has consented to partner NFR in developing top notch railway channels within this area ”

Further, the IIT Guwahati may additionally encourage NFR to get their channels plastic-free by providing alternative bio degradable plastic based technology.

Yogesh Verma, Chief Planning & Design Engineer, NFR, emphasised the approach could be adopted to locate methods to the difficulties having a goal towards improving operations & maintenance of rail conducting along with other identified areas under this collaboration.
