More than three lakh litres of milk surplus daily at Malabar Region alone as a Result of COVID-19 Lock down

The Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (Milma) has frozen the day group of milk from the milk societies at its own Malabar region from Tuesday onwards also it has restricted that the everyday collection to 60 percent of everything it currently is.

The decision comes after reports that over 3 lakhs litres of milk is more excess in Malabar Region alone every single day as a consequence of the COVID-19 lock down. With fewer restaurants and other industrial partnerships working and the people not able to really go outside and get milk as standard, Milma is confronting a catastrophe rather than before. As the purchase is minimal, there’s considerable gain in the supply of milk, even using more people entering milk farming throughout the first lock down.

Conversion in to vanilla powder

Milma usedto amass all of the available milk though it didn’t be able for its whole storage. The extra milk has been provided for private factories in Tamil Nadu to convert it in milk powder .

Milma lasted the process even despite it being non-profitable to your federation in order to encourage the milk farmers from their state. But, Milma has become not able to send the extra milk into Tamil Nadu on account of this lock down, thus the reduction in milk assortment.

Chairman of Milma Malabar Union K.S. Mani said in a media release which the problem can come back to normal once the lock down has been raised and Milma is able to ship milk into Tamil Nadu. In light of this specific scenario, ” he asked the collaboration of milk societies and milk farmers.
