Following an explosion in coronavirus disorders, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi has decided to close its physiological OPD services from April 22 and postpone regular pediatric admissions to retain the spread of this herpes virus and also fortify tools for treatment of COVID-19 patients. In an announcement on Monday, the AIIMS government said,”. . .it was chose to temporarily switch more than physiological responses of OPD’s patients at morning OPD’s and Speciality Clinics in AIIMS Hospital and Centres into Teleconsultations with effect from Thursday, 22.04.2021.”

The decision was accepted”in perspective of greater demand to minimize chance for community spread of continuing COVID-19 outbreak also to maximize diversion of available work and substances funds for its procedure of suspected/confirmed patients of COVID-19 and in addition thinking about the specific situation of overall curfew announced by the Delhi administration,” it also said.

Further, in opinion of necessity to optimize use of available inpatient beds such as hospitalisation of badly ill emergency/ semi-emergency patients, it’s been decided to temporarily suspend regular in patient admissions generally wards in addition to private wards at AIIMS Hospital along with most Centres with immediate effect for a period of fourteen weeks that is likely to soon be evaluated then, the government said.

Emergency patients that require inpatient hospitalization generally wards or those patients that are proposed private wards hospitalisation because of emergency/ semi permanent urgent circumstances, will last to get confessed, the circular said.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced a Sixday lock-down from 10 pm Monday before 5 am next Monday in perspective of an exponential increase in coronavirus cases.
